::Trimming the Tree::

We received a call two days ago from the teacher. One of our boys said that Santa wasn't real. The teacher was very upset, and so was I-- but not for the same reasons. She wants every child in her classroom to respect one anothers' beliefs, while I want every child in her classroom to believe in Jesus. That said, I took full responsibility. I admitted to her that I had forgotten to have that talk with my boy-- the one where I tell him to clamp his lips shut and say nothing at all.

Yes, St.Nick did exist...but replacing Christmas for Santa at Christmastime? The children are allowed their own beliefs...But of course where did those beliefs come from. As long as the teacher doesn't talk about Santa at all in class I would say...'Sure my son will keep quiet..." It's a tough one though. Maybe he'd like to pray for his classmates that they might know Jesus and not just Santa?♥

My boys asked me yesterday...Why do you let us believe in the Tooth Fairy and not in Santa? I answered...The Tooth Fairy is just for fun and so is Santa but people have tried to remove Christ from Christmas and that is not what we believe. It is a good reminder to be sensitive and loving though, that's for sure!
