A good park is SO important to a mother. For a year now I have been keeping an eye open for the right place to bring the kids. I've found any number of parks, but all of them have fallen far short of my hopes: Not enough shade, or none at all. Simple, boring structures. No swings. Far away from home. But then I found Huntley Park.
I am both thrilled to have discovered this place, while frustrated that it was right under my nose this whole time. Huntley Park adjoins the Carp Fairgrounds. It is a long, thin strip covered in mature trees. There are three separate structures with every kind of climbing system imaginable. The sand is covered in interesting riding toys, one of which is made to look like a tractor bucket that can be worked in such a way that it scoops up sand and pivots around to dump it elsewhere. {Elijah adores it!} There are swings. And three types of monkey bars. And the best part? A splash pad!
It's a bit of a walk to the back of the park, but it's worth it. From 9:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m. during the summer months, there is a fully operational water park for the kids to enjoy. It shuts down between 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. to conserve water, but that's a great time to pull out the picnic lunch. Carp is full of surprises.
